Entry Formalities A) Visas Participants requiring entry Visas to the Republic of The Gambia should obtain them from Gambian Diplomatic and Consular Missions in their respective countries, or, in exceptional circumstances, on arrival at Banjul International Airport. The corresponding Visa Application Form A can be accessed on-line in the AU Banjul Summit Website. aubjl2006.gm. B) Immigration As a courtesy all delegation members accompanying Heads of State & Government are exempted from presenting themselves to an Immigration Official. The arrival formalities will be dealt with by a Protocol Officer on their behalf. On the other hand, all other participants should present themselves to an Immigration Official on entering or leaving The Gambia. Participating delegations will be requested to contact the Protocol Desks in their Hotels to confirm their departure arrangements. They will also be requested to inform their Protocol Unit Heads of their departure dates and deliver their luggage to them four hours before departure. C) Health Requirements Proof of inoculation against Yellow Fever is required for all participants coming from or having passed through Yellow Fever endemic areas as stipulated by the World Health Organization. Access to Banjul International Airport A limited number of officials of African Embassies and some of their nationals residing in The Gambia may be permitted to enter Banjul International Airport to receive their Heads of State upon arrival. Embassies intending to do so are requested to contact the AU Banjul Coordinating Secretariat to obtain permission in accordance with normal procedures. Special Aircraft Special Aircraft carrying Heads of State and Government or members of delegation landing at Banjul International Airport must acquire landing permission from the The Gambia Civil Aviation Authority. Requests for landing permission must include basic information such as date and time of flight, nationality and registration of aircraft, type of aircraft, call sign, and point of departure, route, and personalities on board, entrance and exit points. Requests for permission are to be submitted through the normal Diplomatic Channels at least three weeks in advance. Information Desks Information desks will be set up at the Airport, Conference Centre and designated Hotels to provide flight information and deal with reservations, cancellations, ticketing and other related services for delegations. |
